Welcome to the Vintage Cottage!
The Study Den page features items that we are currently researching.
Each item has a story, and resurrecting a story is part of history.
This page will show the process from the beginning to the current phase of our research.
We are excited to announce that our showcase items will be part of the historical collection at the Vintage Cottage Shop, which will open on July 4, 2025.

At the Vintage Cottage, we do our best to preserve and respect the stories placed before us.
Each story is as unique as the person, place, or event. We aim to share original historical information that can be tangibly recorded in their records.
Our recent case involves the death of a contractor named Furguson.
Vintage handwriting on the back of the photograph states:
"This is the remains of the buggy that was blown up by the Italians, killing Contractor Ferguson."
A vintage photo shows the remains of a once-sturdy buggy, now a twisted mess of wood and metal.
This battered vehicle is a strong reminder of a tragic incident.
On the back is an inscription explaining the situation, noting that the photo depicts the aftermath of a buggy destroyed by an explosion caused by Italian forces.
This explosion led to the untimely death of Contractor Furguson, a man known for his hard work and determination.
Vintage Photograph
This vintage photograph features five men in an office setting.
Research Goal
1. Identify the time period based on the men's clothing and determine the fashion style associated with that era.
2. Examine the calendar displayed behind the men for dating information.
3. Clarify the image details and consider colorizing it for enhanced visibility.
4. Conduct an image search for similar photographs to gain further context.
1. Identify the period based on the men's clothing and determine the fashion style associated with that era.
The 1944 date on the calendar was a big clue as to the dating style of clothing.
2. Examine the calendar displayed behind the men for dating information.
The calendar reveals the last two numbers of the year and a partial date of the number 7.
In researching the item, we concluded the calendar is for October 7, 1944.
3. Clarify the image details and consider adding color for better visibility.
- We have restored the photograph to make identification easier by cleaning up the image and adding color.
4. Conduct additional research into the photograph. (In progress)
